See the Trailer for ‘The Preppie Connection’ Starring Thomas Mann

The Preppie Connection premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival back in October and then made its rounds at the Mill Valley, and Middleburg Film Festivals and was finally picked up by IFC Films for North American distribution in December. The indie stars Thomas Mann, who made waves for another indie drama in 2015 with the Sundance winner Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. Although it didn’t garner quite as much attention, The Preppie Connection did earn Mann the “Breakthrough Performer” award in the Hamptons.

The drama follows the true story of a middle class student who finds himself to be a bit of a fish-out-of-water among the elite and affluent kids at his local prep school, that is until he begins to single-handedly supply the student populace with cocaine. His deep connections impress his new friends but also lead to deep consequences.

Lucy Fry (Vampire Academy), Sam Page (Self/less), and Logan Huffman (Lymelife) also star. Bourgeoning indie director Joseph Castelo (The War Within) directed the pic and co-wrote it with first-time screenwriter Ashley Rudden.

In the film’s first trailer, we see Mann’s Tobias Hammel immerse himself in the chaotic world of “preppies” and subsequently get in way over his head when his small prep school connections turn international.

IFC Films has not yet locked in a release date. Mann will next be seen in Brain On Fire opposite Chloe Grace Moretz (The Fifth Wave).
