The first official footage from the highly anticipated adaptation of The Girl on the Train has at last arrived. The first trailer takes audiences right into the dark and mysterious world of the best-selling Paula Hawkins novel.
In the film, Emily Blunt (Sicario) stars as Rachel, an alcoholic divorcee who spies on her former husband and his new life during her daily train commute into London as she passes by her old neighborhood. When her ex-husband’s nanny goes missing, on a night that she can’t particularly remember, she becomes a primary suspect in the subsequent investigation.
Based on the trailer, the tone seems to be following something similar to Gone Girl as the film unravels a dark mystery through the eyes of an unreliable narrator.
Justin Theroux (HBO’s The Leftovers), Haley Bennett (The Equalizer), Luke Evans (Furious 7), Allison Janney (Spy), Edgar Ramirez (Joy), and Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation) also star. Tate Taylor (The Help) directed the film based on the adapted screenplay written by Erin Cressida Wilson (Men Women & Children).
