Dylan O’Brien (TV’s Teen Wolf) returns as Thomas to the post-apocalyptic world of The Maze Runner, in a completely new setting with a new set of obstacles, for the first sequel in the popular YA series, The Scorch Trials.
The second installment catches up with Thomas and his fellow Gladers immediately after they have escaped the confinements of the Maze. Now the group is faced with a starkly different world made up of a desolate landscape, a team of scientists (WCKD) continuing to manipulate their every move, and a whole lot more people all bent on survival.
Wes Ball returns as director for the second film, along with screenwriter T.S. Nowlin. Kaya Scodelario (TV’s Skins), Patricia Clarkson (Shutter Island), Aiden Gillen (TV’s Game of Thrones), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love Actually), Katherine McNamara (New Years Eve), Nathalie Emmanuel (Furious 7), Ki Hong Lee (TV’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Lili Taylor (The Conjuring) round out the ensemble cast.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials opens in theaters on September 18. See the trailer below, which features O’Brien’s Thomas picking up right where he left off, sprinting through narrowing spaces.
