See More of Alicia Vikander in a New ‘Tomb Raider’ Trailer

The second trailer for the upcoming Lara Croft movie shows another look at Alicia Vikander’s (Tulip Fever, Ex Machina) portrayal of the role. The Vikander-starring film follows in the wake of over dozen video games revolving around Lara Croft, as well as two movies from the early 2000’s starring Angelina Jolie. Roar Uthaug (Cold Prey, The Wave) directs the movie for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Warner Bros.

The trailer shows more about Lara’s adventure in search of her dad, putting it to a dramatically-changed cover of Survivor by Destiny’s Child. She heads to the terrifying and dangerous Devil’s Sea, encountering a man who her father (played by Dominic West) trapped on an island, showing Lara the hidden nature of her father’s past as well as the dangers of an organization named Trinity. She must then put an end to their plot of worldwide mass murder.

Vikander and West will be acting alongside Kristin Scott-Thomas (Darkest Hour, Only God Forgives), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, The Shield), Daniel Wu (New Police Story, Into the Badlands), and Hannah John-Kamen (Black Mirror, Ready Player One). John-Kamen and Goggins will also both be appearing in the upcoming sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Tomb Raider will rush into theaters on March 16th.
