Sebastian Stan Eyeing Dracula Role in Upcoming Karyn Kusama Vampire Flick

From the Mad Hatter on ABC’s Once Upon A Time to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan has had a colorful career. But Stan is currently after a role that may be his most interesting yet: the Prince of Darkness himself, Dracula.

After the success of The Invisible Man, producer Jason Blum is at it again. Blumhouse Studios is behind some of the 21st century’s most successful low-budget horror films, such as Paranormal Activity, The Purge, and Get Out. Now Blumhouse is bringing the king of vampires to the big screen. Dracula is being directed by Karyn Kusama, the director of cult classic Jennifer’s Body, and written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stan mentioned that he’d been in communication with Kusama about the movie. Stan and Kusama have already worked together on 2018’s Destroyer. “I already emailed her [Kusama] about that [Dracula],” Stan said to THR. “I said, ‘You know I’m from Romania, right?’ and she goes, “Yes, yes, it’s very early – and there’s a pandemic. Hopefully, we’ll see you in four years.”

So Stan is definitely interested in the role, but only time will tell if he gets to play the iconic vampire. With coronavirus putting the film world on hold, it may be awhile until we see Stan don the cape and fangs. Hopefully it’ll be sooner than later.
