Just ahead of its release at the end of this week, the final trailer to Scream 5 has dropped, flaunting a collection of enthusiastic reviews for the new horror flick. Audiences also get some fresh looks at the cast and this film’s Ghostface and what he’s bringing to the table.
Scream 5, titled more simply as Scream, stars Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), David Arquette (Dewey Riley), and Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) reprising their respective roles from the previous four films. The film also adds a large cast of newcomers, including Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid, and more. There is no doubt that there is no shortage of suspects around every corner.
The official synopsis reads: “Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.”
The final trailer teases this group of teens’ fate. It shows the returning cast back in action with Campbell’s Sidney Prescott saying she’s “seen this movie before,” indicating that this film will continue to be as meta as the previous installments. This is notably the first Scream film to not be directed by the late Wes Craven and instead taken on by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, who, based on the reviews from the trailer, seem to have everything under control.
Audiences can find out for themselves when Scream 5 releases in theaters this Friday, January 14th.
