According to TheWrap, Scott Eastwood (Diablo) has landed a role in Ben Affleck’s Live by Night.
Affleck is directing from a screenplay he wrote, based on the novel by Dennis Lehane (Mystic River)- Affleck previously directed an adaptation of Lehane’s Gone Baby Gone– his directorial debut. The Prohibition-era tale follows Joe Coughlin (Affleck), a police captain’s son who falls in with the dark side and rises to become a powerful mobster, as the story zips from Boston to Tampa to Cuba. Eastwood will play Danny Coughlin, Joe’s brother. Affleck and Eastwood recently worked together in the comic book film Suicide Squad, which will be released on August 5.
Live by Night’s starry cast also includes Chris Messina (Cake) Sienna Miller (Burnt), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Beyond), Elle Fanning (Trumbo), Max Casella (Christmas Eve) and Chris Cooper (Demolition). Affleck and his Pearl Street partner Jennifer Todd are producing, along with Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran. This is Affleck’s first film behind the camera following the Oscar winning 2012 film Argo. Affleck previously directed the 2010 thriller The Town.
Eastwood’s role in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is being kept under wraps. He was in last year’s Fury, also helmed by Ayer, alongside Brad Pitt. Eastwood recently starred in Lawrence Roeck’s Diablo, and in the romantic drama The Longest Ride, a Nicholas Sparks adaptation. He will soon be seen in Oliver Stone’s Snowden opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Walk), which bows May 13th.
