Sarah Hyland to Star in ‘The Wedding Year’

Sarah Hyland (Modern Family’s Haley Dunphy and XOXO’s Krystal) just hopped aboard the romantic comedy The Wedding Year from Lakeshore Entertainment.

The Wedding Year will be directed by Robert Luketic from a screenplay by Don Diego. Luketic is known for Legally Blonde, Monster-in-Law, and episodes of the telenovela-inspired TV dramedy Jane the Virgin.

The film features Hyland as a marriage-averse LA photographer with a long-term boyfriend. Their relationship reaches a boiling point when the two of them are invited to fifteen weddings in one year. If you know rom-coms, you might notice that this premise harkens back to director Anne Fletcher’s 27 Dresses (2008), which starred Katherine Heigl – who also starred opposite Gerard Butler in Luketic’s 2009 rom-com The Ugly Truth. Small world!

Lakeshore will bring The Wedding Year to Cannes Film Festival this year for sales. Production begins May 21 in Los Angeles.
