Sam Rockwell Joins Christian Bale in New ‘Cheney’ Film

Adam McKay, the man behind comedy hits like Anchorman and Talladega Nights and the amazingly deep film The Big Short, has begun putting together the cast for his next non-fiction film, around which he based one of the most powerful vice presidents in recent history. He has officially chosen the president during this time: Sam Rockwell, known for his roles in Moon and The Green Mile, will be playing President George W. Bush in the new film titled Cheney, which will focus on Dick Cheney’s life in politics, according to Empire.

Cheney was one of the most active vice presidents in America, engaging in the construction of government policies without any influences from the president. During Bush era, people believed that Cheney controlled the country. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see what McKay will do with these rumors.

Cheney will be played by none other than Christian Bale (The Prestige, The Dark Knight), with other popular actors filling key roles including Bill Pullman (Independence Day, The Equalizer), Amy Adams (Arrival, American Hustle), and Steve Carell (The Office, Cafe Society). Both Bale and Carell worked with McKay on The Big Short. Cheney should begin filming at the end of September.

More good news for fans: Rockwell has plenty of other projects coming up! Look for him in Mute and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
