Sam Raimi Interested In Developing A New ‘Evil Dead’ Film With Bruce Campbell

Sam Raimi is refusing to let his franchise die, as the director of Evil Dead and Spider-Man expressed his interest of directing another Evil Dead sequel with Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, according to Movieweb.

When Raimi was interviewed at a fan Q&A about the state of the Evil Dead franchise and whether or not another film would be made, the director had a quick response for his bloodthirsty fanbase. “Bruce, Rob Tapert and I are working with a young filmmaker who is writing a new Evil Dead story that he will direct. As for me…. I would love to direct a new Evil Dead movie… but I’d really like to do it with Bruce. And he says he’s retired the character. I hope not.”

Raimi and Campbell toyed with the idea of releasing another Evil Dead film in the past with a new director, but feared that the character of Ash would get pushed aside for a younger star. Campbell would go on to announce his retirement playing Ash following the cancelation of Ash vs. Evil Dead on Starz. The actor would altogether retire from portraying the character physically, as Campbell reprised Ash vocally in the video game Dead by Daylight.

Raimi recently produced the reboot of The Grudge, which can now be viewed in theaters.
