Actress Sadie Sink has shared insights into her experience joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the upcoming feature film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In a new profile interview with Nylon magazine, the Stranger Things breakout star discussed the production’s high level of secrecy and praised the welcoming environment established by lead actor Tom Holland.
Sink, who joins the blockbuster franchise in an undisclosed role, admitted that entering the massive scale of a Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures production initially felt intimidating. Despite her familiarity with large fandoms through her multi-season tenure on Netflix’s Stranger Things, she noted that superhero blockbusters present a different level of public attention and scale. Sink emphasized that Holland’s relaxed demeanor and open approach on set drastically eased her transition into the established cinematic universe.
The casting process for Sink bypassed traditional industry methods. Due to her prior professional relationship with director Destin Daniel Cretton on the 2017 drama The Glass Castle, she received a direct character offer without an audition. To maintain optimal security over the film’s plot, the studios refrained from distributing digital scripts. Sink revealed that she did not physically read the screenplay until she arrived at the production’s filming base in London.
According to the official synopsis released by Marvel, Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker as he navigates full-time street-level crime fighting in New York City following the memory-erasing events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The narrative centers on Parker balancing the emotional toll of his forgotten identity while confronting an unseen, emerging threat that endangers the city.
The film features an ensemble cast that integrates returning franchise staples and new Marvel additions, including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Mark Ruffalo. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on July 31, 2026.
