Billie August (Les Misérables) is set to direct biopic about the late Giorgio Armani. The movie is also to be produced by Andrea Iervolino (Ferrari) who is the one who selected August for director. No conformations have been made about who is to star in the film or who is to write the script but the biopic has a working title, Armani: The King Of Fashion.
Armani passed away late 2025 in September at the age of 91. In an article with Deadline, Iervolino said, “The passing of Gianni Armani has once again brought to the forefront the profound value and meaning that the Armani name represents for Italy and for the world.” He followed with “We all know the Armani brand, but we don’t always truly know the man Giorgio Armani: his story, the sacrifices, the vision that made possible an Italian dream recognized everywhere. As an Italian, I feel a duty to honor someone who elevated the name of our country so highly.”
Armani was born on July 11, 1934 in Piacenza, Italy. He, his brother Sergio and sister Rosanna had to live during the destruction that came to Italy during World War II. He at first went to medical school but decided to finish his mandatory military service instead. While serving, he begin to develop his interest in fashion.
