Actress Ruth Negga (Preacher) will be working with her new co-star Brad Pitt in the film Ad Astra, playing an unspecified role in the film. Negga has experienced a wide career, ranging from Marvel television show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; to video game Dark Souls II; to Loving, the film which garnered her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress . Her vast experience speaks to her talents, making her an excellent addition to the film.
Entrenched in the genre of science fiction, the movie centers around a critical quest throughout space. This certainly explains the title, which means “to the stars” in Latin.
James Gray, known for his work in The Lost City of Z and We Own the Night, will serve as the director.
Pitt (The Tree of Life) will be playing the character of Roy McBride. This is actually not the first time that he has acted with Negga, as they were both in the 2013 film World War Z. Pitt and Negga will also be joined by actor Tommy Lee Jones (Men in Black), who will play Clifford McBride, and John Finn (Cold Case), who will play Stroud.
Currently the film is still in the pre-production stage and has no specified release date.
