Golden Globe-winner Robin Wright’s directorial debut Land, starring Wright and Demian Bichir, is set to be released in the United States on Feb. 12, 2021, in theaters.Wright has directed several episodes of her show House of Cards. However, Land is the first time that she has directed a feature film.
Land follows Edee (Wright), who flees and gets off the grid in the wilderness after experiences an unfathomable occurrence, aiming to remain linked to the life she once knew. When she crosses paths with a nearby hunter (Bichir) and brings her back from the brink of death, she decides to confront her demons to live again.
Wright directs Jesse Chatham and Erin Digman’s screenplay that was co-written by Liz Hannah, who is best known for co-writing The Post from Steven Spielberg and the comedy Long Shot that starred Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron.
Ally Stewart, Lora Kennedy, Leah Holzer, and Peter Saraf produced the film with Wright as the executive producer alongside Big Beach’s Marc Turtletaub, John Sloss & Steve Farneth of Cinetic Media with Nomadic Pictures’ Chad Oakes & Mike Frislev and Eddie Rubin.
Focus Features have already released movies like horror Come Play in Oct. and drama Let Him Go with Diane Lane and Kevin Costner in Nov. 2020. On Christmas, Focus will release revenge thriller Promising Young Woman and comedy Half Brothers.
