Rising Star Lucas Hedges Signs on to ‘Honey Boy’, a Biopic About Shia Labeouf

Lucas Hedges has definitely been an actor on the rise, starring in two different Academy Award-nominated films of last year: Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, MissouriHe was also nominated for an Oscar the year before on behalf of his turn in Manchester by the SeaHis convincing and strong emotional personality has definitely allowed hum to fill multiple different roles, the latest of which is younger Shia LaBeouf in new drama titled Honey Boy, according to Variety.

Honey Boy loosely follows the story of Shia LaBeouf’s actual life. It deals with the tensions between a father and his son, laying down complex character motivations and struggles. Hedges will be acting as a young child star, a role which LaBeouf once lived in, performing in films like Holes and television shows like Even Stevens. Now, LaBeouf will act opposite Hedges, portraying his alcoholic and criminally-inclined father.

Alma Har’el has taken the reins to direct with no one currently attached to the script. We can assume, however, that LaBeouf will have some say on the screenplay, as it is quite literally his life’s story. Currently, because of the freshness of the film, no release date nor even a shooting date has been announced, but we will keep you updated on any new information on the movie.
