Release Date Set for ‘The Snowman’ with Michael Fassbender

A release date of October 13, 2017 has been set for The Snowman, starring Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs).

The Universal Pictures and Working Title Films production also stars Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation), and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Independence Day: Resurgence). Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) will helm the project.

The Snowman is the seventh novel in Norwegian author Jo Nesbo’s series about detective Harry Hole (Fassbender), who solves crimes around Oslo. The story revolves around the disappearance of a young boy’s mother and the subsequent mysterious appearance of a snowman in their front yard wearing the pink scarf her son gave her for Christmas. With the help of a new recruit (Ferguson), he investigates the connection between the crime to decades-old cold cases, and together they may uncover the first serial killer in Norway. The film will shoot entirely on location in Norway, in the cities of Oslo and Bergen, and the area of Rijukan.

Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce, along with Robyn Slovo (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Piodor Gustafsson (The Girls with the Dragon Tattoo). Nesbo, Niclas Salomonsson, Martin Scorcese, Alfredson, Liza Chasin, and Amelia Granger will executive produce.

Principal photography starts January 18th.
