Release Date Announced for ‘Conjuring’ Sequel

New Line Studios announced a release date for the sequel to the 2013 horror hit The Conjuring. The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Poltergeist will release June 10, 2016 and follow the continuing adventures of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga).

The film will mark a return to the franchise for director James Wan, after he took break from the prequel Annabelle, which was released last month. The writers of the original film, Chad and Carey Hayes are also writing the sequel. This is the director’s third horror franchise after the Insidious and Saw series. He is also behind the upcoming Furious 7.

New Line seem to have chosen a summer release to entice audiences with programming counter to the typical summer blockbusters, a strategy that made the original hit.
