Rebel Wilson to Star and Produce Comedy ‘Senior Year’

Rebel Wilson has her next project. Wilson is set to star and produce the Paramount Players high school comedy Senior Year. Award-winning director of film and television Alex Hardcastle will direct the comedy. Based on an idea from Andrew Knauer (Ghost Team One) and Arthur Pielli (Ghost Team One), Brandon Scott Jones will write the script.

The division from Paramount Pictures, Paramount Players, is committed to making hit genre films with exclusive contemporary voices and features.

The plot follows a cheerleader who wakes up after a 20-year coma and returns to high school to regain her status and claim the prom queen crown that she missed way back when.

The Pitch Perfect actress hasn’t been seen in any movie in 2020 since she started her quest to lose weight. Before her break, she starred in the romantic comedy Isn’t It Romantic, opposite Liam Hemsworth. Later that year worked on the comedy The Hustle with Anne Hathaway and had roles in Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit and Tom Hooper’s Cats.

In October 2020, it was announced that Wilson was cast in her first dramatic movie, The Almond and the Seahorse that is currently in the pre-production phase.

Hardcastle has directed episodes in Grace and Frankie, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, You’re the Worst, Suburgatory, New Girl and Love, Victor.

Cassandra Reichelt: I graduated from California State University of Long Beach in Spring 2021 with a degree in Journalism major. I did attend Long Beach City College for a couple of years, I then transferred to CSULB in 2019. I want to write something outside the normal, something no one would think to write about in a unique way. It also shows how far I am willing to go to produce something amazing that will get more readers interested in the world of Journalism. I am on my way to making a professional life for myself.
