Rapper G-Easy Seeks Role as Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s New Biopic Film

Rapper G-Easy has been pursuing the part of Elvis in Baz Luhrmann‘s biopic about the late King of Rock and Roll. G-Easy started his campaign on Instagram and has posted several pictures, such as the one below, captioned with lyrics from some of Elvis’ most famous tunes. This has led many of his followers to speculate that he is in talks with Warner Bros. to play the lead.

G-Easy has a background in singing, so perhaps he would do well in the role. You may have heard of him from his “Me, Myself & I,” a duet with his ex-girlfriend, singer Halsey, entitled “Him & I,” or on another single, “No Limit,” which featured A$AP Rocky and Cardi B.

Other actors reportedly to in talks to play Elvis are singer-songwriter Harry Styles, and actors Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Austin Butler. Supposedly the casting announcement for the lead will take place in a few weeks.

Baz Luhrmann, director of Romeo + Juliet (1996), Moulin Rouge! (2001), and The Great Gatsby (2013), will be directing the untitled Elvis biopic. Tom Hanks is reportedly playing Elvis’ longtime manager, Colonel Tom Parker, who held the reigns on Elvis’ career for more than two decades. It has not yet been reported when the film will be released.
