Rachel Bloom, Adam Pally to Star in Lionsgate Comedic Murder Mystery ‘Most Likely to Murder’

Lionsgate has acquired Most Likely to Murder, a murder mystery comedy from Dan Gregor and Doug Mand (creators of How I Met Your Mother and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), through Lionsgate Digital Studios. Lionsgate Digital Studios is run by a group of motion picture and television executives for the purpose of producing low-budget features. They have obtained several first look deals with creators like Freddy Wong and Hannah Hart, and released the film Dirty 30 and series Dimension 404 through Hulu.

Dealine reports that the dark comedy, which Gregor and Mand refer to as “Rear Window for stoners” follows Billy (Adam Pally, The Mindy Project), the former popular kid in school, who returns home after 10 years to discover that he’s no longer the popular stud that he was in high school. And to make things worse, the girl of his dreams (Rachel Bloom, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) is now dating the former high school outcast. After the outcast’s mother dies under strange circumstances, Billy becomes obsessed with proving it was murder and hijinks ensue.

Gregor will be directing the film that he co-wrote with Mand, Mand will be appearing in the film alongside Pally and Bloom, and both creators will be executive producers on the project. Pally and Bloom will not only star in the feature but also produce alongside Petra Ahmann. Jordan Gilbert will oversee for the studio.

For Bloom, a Golden Globe winner for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, this will be her first major feature film after working for many years in television. Pally’s long-awaited new comedy series Making History is premiering this March in which he co-stars with Girls writer Yassir Lester and Gossip Girl‘s Leighton Meester.
