Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, and Ben Foster Join Sandler Led Basketball Film ‘Hustle’

Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, and Ben Foster have signed on to star in the Adam Sandler led and LeBron James produced basketball movie for Netflix Hustle, Deadline reports. This will be Sandler’s eighth production with Netflix, the latest Hubie Halloween has recently released on the streaming platform.

While the film revolves around basketball, Sandler is not playing a basketball player. Instead, the comedy star plays a down on his luck basketball scout that finds one last shot to get back into the NBA. No word on the roles Latifah, Duvall, and Foster will play.

The film is directed by Jeremiah Zagar, who previously directed the 2018 coming of age story We the Animals. It certainly will be interesting to see what he brings to this Happy Madison production. The script is penned by A Star is Born writer Will Fetters and NBA 2k19 and 2k20 writer Taylor Materne.

An Adam Sandler sports movie would seem like a comedy. However, based on this latest casting of an Oscar nominee, an Oscar winner, and an actor who typically appears in dramatic roles, such as one of his most recent films Leave No Trace, along with the talent behind the camera, this sports movie could be something more serious.

Either way the sports film is starting to form its starting lineup. The film is currently filming in Philadelphia under strict COVID-19 guidelines. No release date is set.
