The Wrap has reported on the new trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
The trailer shows the various ways in which Puss in Boots has “died” throughout his adventures and has now run out of eight of his nine lives. Puss in Boots will have to be extra careful in this new adventure in order to preserve his final life. The trailer also shows off Goldilocks and the three bears, who serve as antagonists. The trailer ends with the iconic “adorable cat eyes” which have become the signature bit of the character.
The film will star Antonio Banderas, known for the role of Zorro in The Mask of Zorro, as Puss in Boots, and Salma Hayek, known for the role of Ajak in Marvel’s Eternals, as Kitty Softpaws.
The character of Puss in Boots was first introduced in Shrek 2, which came out in May of 2004. The character was introduced as a bounty hunter who teamed up with Shrek and Donkey. The furry swordsman received his own film titled Puss in Boots which served as a spin-off set in the same fairy-tale universe as the Shrek franchise, which was released in October 2011.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish will release on September 23rd, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
