‘Professor Marston and the Wonder Women’ Begins Marketing Campaign with Viral Site and Theatrical Teaser

If you plan on catching Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman in theaters this weekend, there’s a chance you’ll happen upon a mysterious teaser trailer playing before the movie in select screenings.

Only showing glimpses of footage, audio clips and no title, the short teaser simply dons the tagline “Ever wonder?”, followed by the web site name “professorm.movie“.

The link above brings users to a comic book page, reenacting what are presumably the scenes teased in the trailer, with interactive speech bubbles. The page also links to the Instagram pages of actors: Rebecca Hall (The Prestige), Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast), Connie Britton (Nashville), and Bella Heathcote (The Neon Demon), who are all rendered in comic books style artwork on the page.

Although not explicitly, the teaser and the site both hint at a strong connection to the DC comics heroine. Most likely, these teasers belong to the film Professor Marston & the Wonder Womenwhich was acquired by Sony for distribution back in October 2016.

Written and directed by Angela Robinson (Herbie: Fully Loaded, The L Word), the film will tell the true story of William Marson, who worked under a pen name to create the heroic amazon princess in 1941, and the two women in his life that inspired him to do so.

No release date for the film has yet to be announced.

Austin Allison: Born and raised in Tucson, AZ, I have been obsessed with cartoons, animation, and film in general for as long as I've known how to talk and draw. From Disney animation to indie movies, filmmaking was always the purest form of art to me. I majored in Film and Television Studies and minored in Studio Art at the University of Arizona. The greatest aspect of studying film was developing a creative and critical eye for a medium that I had loved for so long, but couldn't explain why I loved it until now.
