Pixar’s latest project will not only be taking audiences back in time, but it will be showing them what the world would be like if humans and dinosaurs existed together. The Good Dinosaur is the brainchild of Bob Peterson, co-director of 2009’s airy adventure film Up. He’s also worked on several other Pixar movies, including Finding Nemo and Monster’s Inc. The Good Dinosaur follows Arlo, a teenage apatosaurus, as he tries to restore peace in his community after a traumatic event occurs. On his journey, he befriends a primitive human boy named Spot.
The kindhearted main character will be voiced by Lucas Neff (Raising Hope) and he will be joined by John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris, and Judy Greer, who will be playing his parents and siblings respectively. Both Greer and Neff have discussed the making of the film in a report from Empireonline.com giving details about their preparation for their characters. Greer describes her role as a “tough, sturdy, farm girl” dinosaur, while Neff mentions the moral of the story is “that being a good dinosaur means being yourself. As long as your self is not a homicidal maniac!”
The film will be released on July 18, 2014.
