Pier-Philippe Chevigny Debut Film “Temporaries” Trailer Sheds Light On Migrant Work Abuse

Canadian filmmaker Pier-Philippe Chevigny has released teaser for his debut feature, Temporaries. The film will premiere at multiple film festivals starting at the Tribeca Festival, soon traveling to the Karlovy Vary Film Festival and, finally, to the Fantasia International Film Festival.

The film stars Ariane Castellanos as Ariane, who is fresh out of a breakup and decides to move back home to Richelieu Valley in Quebec. She gets a job as an interpreter in a factory for seasonal migrant workers. Throughout the film, she witnesses workplace abuse to these workers and must decide whether to keep quiet or speak out to stop the injustice.

The new filmmaker revealed he is using his hometown in the film. Chevigny was raised in Richelieu Valley, where he observed a large number of migrant workers. Throughout the years in Richelieu Valley, Chevigny was about to find inspiration for the film.

My first feature aims to question the image of Canada as a perfect, injustice-free country. Launching at Tribeca, Karlovy Vary and Fantasia matters because it gives the weight of international attention to that criticism: it’s harder to ignore the noise when the rest of the world is showing concern.
