Paramount to Make ‘Avengelyne’, Female Character from Creator of ‘Deadpool’

Paramount has made an early deal with producer Akiva Goldsman to back an upcoming film called Avengelyne, which is based on a comic book character created by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld.

The project involves a fallen angel who is sent to redeem herself by serving humanity. She is sent to protect “The One,” a person who possesses the key to protecting the human race from demons and other monsters. Avengelyne, as a celestial being not from earth, must learn how to communicate and live within the boundaries of earth’s culture. According to Deadline, the story has been called ‘John Wick with a fallen angel’.

The supposed screenwriter of Avengelyne, James Coyne, is also writing the newest installment of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes series.

Goldman, who is known across film genres as a successful writer/director/producer, is currently producing Sony’s The Dark Tower, a Stephen King adaptation starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey which was just announced will be released this summer, which is later than originally scheduled, suggesting the film is expected to be a summer blockbuster.

No actress has been cast for lead role of ‘Avengelyne’, and no release date has been set. Stay tuned for further developments on the project.
