‘Outlander’ Star Sam Heughan in Talks for Comedy ‘The Spy Who Dumped Me’

Scottish actor Sam Heughan has been smoldering the small screen with his role in the Starz romantic fantasy series Outlander. He may soon be set to do the same to the big-screen as Deadline reports talks are currently underway for Heughan to join the cast of Lionsgate’s forthcoming action comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me. If talks pan out, it would mark Heughan’s most significant film role to date. The Imagine Entertainment title has already attached Mila Kunis (Bad Moms) and Emmy winner Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live) to the project.

As previously reported, Susanna Fogel will direct from a screenplay she penned with David Iserson. The focus of the feature involves two friends (Kunis, McKinnon) who discover that the man who recently dumped one of them is actually a spy. As such of this revelation, an international conspiracy transpires. Heughan is being sought to portray that spy. Production on the project is hoping to being later this summer. Brian Grazer is producing.

Heughan’s broke out thanks to his role as Jamie Fraser in Outlander. Outside of that series, he has appeared in British television shows including River City and Doctors.

The Spy Who Dumped Me is set to release in theaters on July 6, 2018.
