‘Outlander’ Star Caitriona Balfe Joins ‘Ford v. Ferrari’

20th Century Fox is racing to finalize the cast for its upcoming film, Ford v. Ferrari. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Caitriona Balfe (of Outlander fame) will play Mollie Miles, wife of race car driver Ken Miles, in the film. Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) has also been cast in the film, and he will play the Miles’ son, Peter.

Ford v. Ferrari features Christian Bale as Ken Miles, the British-born race car driver and sports car racing engineer who was tasked by Henry Ford II with piloting new automobile that would outperform Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship. Miles was hired by famed automotive designer, racing driver, and entrepreneur Carroll Shelby, who will be played by Matt Damon in the film. Logan director James Mangold has been signed on to direct, while Jez Butterworth and John Henry Butterworth (Edge of Tomorrow, Black Mass) penned the script.

Balfe has mostly stuck to the small screen of late, playing the enigmatic Claire Randall in three (soon to be four) seasons of the hit Starz show, Outlander. She also starred on the big screen in Money Monster, Escape Plan, and Now You See Me. Jupe got his start on the TV series Penny Dreadful before catapulting to fame with roles in Wonder and A Quiet Place. He will also be seen in the upcoming comedy Holmes and Watson, starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, and Honey Boy, which stars (and is apparently an autobiography about) Shia LaBeouf.

Ford v. Ferrari will begin filming in Los Angeles this summer.
