Oscars Incident Skyrockets Chris Rock’s Comedy Tour Ticket Sales

In the aftermath of the 94th Academy Awards and the controversial encounter between comedian Chris Rock and Will Smith, Rock’s comedy tour ticket sales have seen an exponential uptick. TickPick reports that more tickets were sold for the show overnight than in the past month, along with ticket prices going up from $46 per ticket to some reaching heights of $341 per ticket.

Rock’s tour titled the “Chris Rock Ego Death World Tour” is scheduled to begin on April 2 with six preliminary shows on March 30 and April 1st. The shows range from Las Vegas, Seattle, New York, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, and even revisiting the Los Angeles Dolby Theater, the site of the infamous slap.

Many celebrities have come forward since the incident to condemn Smith’s actions, including Jim Carrey who remarked that he was “sickened” by his actions and the audience reaction to it. While not many have come forward to directly support Rock, Adam Sandler did so in a tweet.

The Academy has come forward with a statement claiming that they will take “appropriate action” in regards to Smith and his actions at the ceremony, but admit that this process may take a few weeks.
