The Screen Actors Guild Awards have just had their 25th annual ceremony with some unexpected wins. This year’s big winner for the awards was for Black Panther, winning Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Best Stunt Performance in an Action Film. This proves to be a huge win for the comic book movie as many are proclaiming how a superhero film with its diverse casting and themes such as Black Panther is getting noticed for awards season. Star of the title character, Chadwick Boseman, stated at the ceremony, “We knew that we had something special, that we could create a world that exemplified a world that we wanted to see.”

Others big winners of the night included Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody and Glenn Close in The Wife for leading Actor and Actress. Alongside for supporting roles were Mahershala Ali for Green Book and Emily Blunt for A Quiet Place. With many of these movies including Black Panther being up for major Oscars, their wins at the SAG Awards will help boost their chances at the Academy big time.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
