‘One Piece: Stampede’ is Coming to Theaters this August

There are very few franchises that can even be compared to the Japanese series One Piece. The One Piece manga and anime have both been running in Japan since the late 1990’s and, as of this point, has produced over 800 chapters, and almost 900 anime episodes. Since the series began, thirteen One Piece movies have been made, with the fourteenth movie set to release this August in Japanese movie theaters.

This new movie is titled One Piece: Stampede and is being directed by Takashi Otsuka. The move was written by Atsuhiro Tomioka and Takashi Otsuka and will feature the same Japanese voice cast as the show. The Japanese cast list can be seen here. A trailer for the movie with English subtitles can be viewed here.

The most basic plot summary One Piece is that it follows a pirate named Monkey D. Luffy and his fellow crew members of the Straw Hat Pirates, as they seek out a legendary treasure called One Piece. It looks like the plot of One Piece: Stampede will be about the Straw Hat Pirates attending a special festival just for pirates.

It is unknown when or even if the movie will be released in English. The English dub of the One Piece anime was originally and infamously done by 4Kids Entertainment but is currently being produced by Funimation. Should an English dub of One Piece: Stampede ever get made, it’s safe to assume that the Funimation actors will be the ones to dub it.
