‘Obsession’ Ranks Amongst Top Ten Horror Films With Box Office Sales

Obsession has officially ranked itself within the top 10 highest-grossing horror movies of all time with $175.6 million currently at the box office according to Film Updates on X. The film was released May 15, 2026, grossing $17.2 million at the box office in its premiere weekend via Box Office Mojo. The box office numbers the weekend following the release increased by 37 percent, accumulating $54 million total in its first 2 weeks.

By the third weekend, the horror film’s box office increased by 52% with $106 million. The film is scheduled to gain $21 million this weekend as its fourth weekend surpassed its premiere weekend revenue, as stated by Film Updates on X. The film obviously did not take long to blow past its budget of $750,000.

Obsession stars Inde Navarrete (Superman & Lois, 13 Reasons Why), Michael Johnston (Teen Wolf, The Academy of Magic), Megan Lawless (The Hate U Give, The Girl from Plainville), Cooper Thomlison (Milk & Serial, Anything but Ghosts), Andy Richter (Elf, Madagascar), Haley Fitzgerald (Mean Girls, Haley’s Brain) and others. The film is directed by Curry Barker (Meanwhile Outside the Bank, Unspoken Tears).

The horror film centers around music-store clerk Bear, who uses a supernatural item titled One Wish Willow to obtain the romantic desire of his childhood friend Nikki. Things turn dark when Nikki is possessed and displays habits unlike her characters such as stalking and possessiveness over Bear.

Obsession can still be seen in theaters.
