Noah Schnapp Joins WWII Drama ‘Waiting For Anya’

Noah Schnapp, who exploded onto the scene with his role as Will Byers in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, has officially signed on to the WII drama Waiting for Anya, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film is officially launching at the European Film Market in Berlin, and is looking for an official distributor and possible financier.

Waiting for Anya will focus on the story of a young shepherd named Jo who joins forces with a widowed woman named Horcarda (played by Anjelika Huston) in order to smuggle young children and families across the border of Southern France into Spain. The film is based on the book written by War Horse author Michael Morpurgo.

Currently, Schnapp and Huston will be joined by Thomas Kretschmann, Elsa Zylberstein, and Tomas Lemarquis, creating a nice supporting cast, but as the European Film Market continues to play out, we can expect a few more castings. The film is being directed by Ben Cookson with a script by Morpurgo and Toby Torlesse. Goldfinch Studios has picked up the production side of the film, and it is expected to begin shooting sometime this year in France. We will provide more details on the film as more information is released.
