Nick Cassavetes to Helm ‘Have You Seen Her?’

Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook) has been announced to direct a new romantic drama from Metalwork Pictures and Paris Film Inc. entitled Have You Seen Her? Cassavetes wrote the original screenplay with Paul Johansson. Variety reports the director’s ideas for the film have been in development for the past decade. Producers are Johansson, Andrew Levitas for Metalwork Pictures and Rob Paris under Paris Film Inc.

Johansson said, “Nick and I have literally been on the verge of writing this for years. We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with Rob and Andrew who have put us on a very fast path to production.” Paris added, “The minute I heard Nick and Paul’s pitch, I knew I had to do whatever I could to help them get it made. It’s sexy and smart, with an exotic, dreamlike setting perfectly suited for an immersive cinematic experience.”

The story is described as an international romance along the lines of The Notebook. Plot details are otherwise being kept hush-hush.

In addition to 2004’s The Notebook, Cassavetes — son of director John Cassavetes and actress Gena Rowlands — has helmed John Q, Alpha Dog, My Sister’s Keeper and The Other Woman. He is currently attached as writer-director for the action film Road House and the biopic Kentucky Rhapsody about Kentucky governor Happy Chandler.

Shooting on Have You Seen Her? is set to begin in early 2018.
