Next ‘Indiana Jones’ Movie to Shoot Next Spring with Harrison Ford Returning

Harrison Ford in 'Indian Jones: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' (2008)

Disney announced during their ‘Investor Day 2020’ stream that Lucasfilm is currently in pre-production on the next installment in the iconic Indiana Jones franchise. James Mangold, the director of Logan and Ford v Ferrari will helm the sequel, and Harrison Ford will reprise the role of the adventure-loving archeologist, Indiana Jones.

Although rumors indicated that Chris Pratt was attached, there was no announcement made about his involvement. The film is set to go into production this coming spring, and the film is scheduled to release July 29, 2022.

It’s unclear exactly where the next installment will take Indy. According to sources, the film will conclude the titular character’s story. It was also recently revealed by producer Frank Marshall that Mangold is currently hard at work on a new draft of the script.

“Yeah, we are working on the script,” Marshall said. “There will only be one Indiana Jones and that’s Harrison Ford. What I’m excited about with Jim is a great story. I think you see that in his movies like Ford v Ferrari. It’s all about characters and telling a good story. So I’m excited to see what he comes up with. I haven’t seen [the script] yet so I don’t know what to tell you.”
