Newest ‘F9’ Trailer Celebrates Family Unity and Explosive Action Sequences

One major summer flick that has been long delayed is the next Fast and Furious installment, F9. Originally scheduled for release in the summer of 2020, now the film is finally scheduled to arrive only in theaters on June 25, now just a few months away. This latest trailer gives us an action-packed taste of the familiar crew we’ve come to know and love facing off against increasingly high-tech and dangerous opponents on the road.

This trailer starts on a lighter note, and a familiar one at that. Vin Diesel‘s Dom starts by saying “The world has a way of changing, and we change too. There are moments that separate us, but we always come back together.” This of course is a sentiment people all over the world are sharing as families are separated and quarantined during this ongoing pandemic. Now with vaccines being widely distributed in the US, we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and are hoping to be united with our friends and loved ones without fear.

Dom and his crew do reassemble in the beginning of this trailer, highlighting the constant theme of family and friendship that center the entire series. We see familiar faces Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, and the return of Sung Kang. The one not so welcome family member is Dom’s brother Jakob, played by John Cena, who appears to be major antagonist of this newest film. Charlize Theron is also showcased as one of the film’s major baddies, returning to her role as Cipher.

A notable addition to the cast is Cardi B, who will be taking on the recurring role of Leysa, a woman from Dom’s past. Reggaeton musician Ozana will also be making a cameo.

And of course, you can’t forget about the action, which we see a taste of here. Now that we’ve already seen cars jumping out of planes, the expectations for wild car chases can only go up. Here we see massive remote-controlled cars being used as battering rams through entire buildings, massive high-tech armored vehicles being thrown into the air, and a vehicle (possibly equipped for space travel) being propelled through the atmosphere after launching out of a plane.
