New Trailer For Movie ‘Damsel’ Starring Millie Bobby Brown Drops

Netflix’s Geek Week 2023, a week of exclusive sneak-peaks, trailers, and news surrounding movies and TV, has dropped a new trailer for the fantasy film Damsel. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, known for Intacto (2001) and 28 Weeks Later (2007), and written by Dan Mazeau, starring Millie Bobby Brown, Nick Robinson, Angela Bassett, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Robin Wright, the film follows Brown in a fantasy world where the word ‘damsel’ takes on a new identity.

Brown plays a damsel named Elodie, who marries a prince and discovers she will be sacrificed to a dragon that presides over the kingdom based on an ancient debt. With only the clothes on her back, she must fight to survive and save herself.

In an interview with Tudum, director Fresnadillo said, “What I really loved in this script from Dan Mazeau was embracing the idea of a fantasy adventure and a princess and dragon story, but taking it into a place [where] it’s completely upside down. It was a very intense journey that I was so excited to design and develop. At the core, this is such a beautiful story about a young woman becoming a strong, independent, and empowered adult. Elodie doesn’t have any kind of support. It’s a real survival experience.”

Damsel challenges the notions of fairytales and happy ever afters in a harrowing journey of self-discovery and might in the face of grave consequences.

Watch the trailer for Damsel and stream on Netflix.
