New Netflix Crime Thriller starring Robert De Niro (Goodfellas) receives 43% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Whisper Man, based on a book of the same name by Alex North, stars Deniro as retired police investigator discovering similarities between the case and one he has faced in the past. The movie was released on the platform on August 28th and also stars Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Hamish Linklater (Big Short), Michael Keaton (Birdman), and Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone).
In an interview with Mashable, North discussed what the book meant to him, telling the interviewer,
This is a book that I wanted to write because it was about fathers and sons, and grandfathers and fathers and sons. And different iterations of the way that plays out in terms of generational trauma. How we respond to things that have happened in our childhood, how we protect our children from things that have happened in our childhood, how we pass things down and how we don’t.
Scott, in the same interview, said it was an “interesting part of the script,” and Deniro agreed saying, “It was one of the things that attracted me to the script, that relationship.”
The audience score can still change for the movie.
