Somewhere between James Bond and Austin Powers comes the new spy thriller The Man From U.N.C.L.E., adapted from the 1964 television series by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes).
Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) and Armie Hammer (The Social Network) play competing Cold War-era American and Soviet spies, respectively. The two must work together when the CIA and the KGB join forces to take down a mysterious criminal entity accumulating nuclear weapons. Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby), Hugh Grant (Love Actually), and Jared Harris (Lincoln) also star.
From the new trailer we see this film will be filled with cinematic espionage conventions. Luxury vehicles, high-end wardrobes, beautiful women with dark secrets, and musical jazz crescendos are all part of the film equation.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. hits theaters August 14th with a little breathing room before Spielberg‘s Cold War drama Bridge of Spies comes out on October 16th and the latest James Bond film, Spectre, on November 6th.
