Fans of the cult classic film, The Toxic Avenger, are finally able to get a good glimpse at the new imagining of the character. A special look for the new film was finally shown off for the first time since its 2023 Fantastic Fest Debut.
Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz first unleashed The Toxic Avenger to audiences in 1984. One of the flagship movies of Troma Entertainment, the film follows a janitor who gets a unique set of powers after a horrible accident. The film spawned several sequels, with the most recent one, Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV, being released in 2000.
Macon Blair is responsible for helming the new spin on the character, which actually debuted in 2023 at several festivals. Peter Dinklage plays the titular hero, alongside Jacob Tremblay, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, and Taylour Paige.
Entertainment Weekly got the chance to share several new images of the film, marking one of the first times that fans can sink their teeth into the first Toxic Avenger film in 25 years.
With the photos coming courtesy of EW, MovieWeb notes that the new film will be employing practical effects akin to its 1984 counterpart, which is one of the talking points most frequently associated with the cult-classic flick.
They even made mention of Dinklage himself, who will be playing the titular role in the full Toxic Avenger getup. ScreenThrill was quick to share the posts to their Instagram as well, depicting Dinklage in the makeup.
