New ‘Hellboy’ Trailer Showcases More R-Rated Content Fans were Promised

Hellboy is finally coming back after over decade hiatus since Hellboy II: the Golden Army. While the new chapter is continuing with Guillermo Del Toro‘s series of films, the newest trailer showcases a more action-packed and violent version of the character now played by Stranger ThingsDavid Harbour.

The first trailer for Hellboy 2019 was received with lukewarm reactions, with many saying tonally it looks unexciting. It didn’t showcase what many fans were promised with this reboot, showing only very little glimpses of the purposed R-rating the reboot was said to get. Now with this new Red-Band trailer, fans are given more of a raw glimpse of what they were initially promised with the return of the comic book character.

The new trailer not only has a ton of fantastical action set pieces and violence to go with it, but shows more swearing and a glimpse of Hellboy’s origin, all set to an epic cover of Smoke on the Water. With all that in mind, fans have become pretty excited for the new direction with the character and only have a few short months left to wait.

Watch the full trailer below before Hellboy hits theaters on April 12th, 2019.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
