2020 sees the return of Christopher Nolan with a new high concept science fiction film set for a summer 2020 release. The film was described as an innovative action blockbuster to be released in IMAX and it now officially has a title. The film is now known as Tenet and is supposedly about international espionage, however not much is known about the film’s plot outside of that.
What has been known about the film prior to the information given is that the film features BlackKklansman actor John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, and recently announced Batman actor, Robert Pattinson as a part of the main cast. Now it has been announced that Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, and Dimple Kapadia will all appear in the film as well. Not just them but actors who have previously worked with Nolan in the past have been cast in the film, including Dunkirk actor Kenneth Branagh and Nolan regular, Michael Caine.
Behind the camera Nolan has both new and old talent joining him for his next film. Hoyte van Hoytema, Oscar winning cinematographer for Interstellar and Dunkirk will return to work with him on Tenet. Who is not returning to work with Nolan is longtime musical collaborator, Hans Zimmer, who has worked with Nolan on a majority of his blockbuster hits since Batman Begins. Replacing him will be recent Oscar Winning Composer for Black Panther, Ludwig Göransson will be here to compose for the upcoming project. Also working on Tenet will be Nathan Crowley for Production Design, Jennifer Lame as Editor, Andrew Jackson as Visual Effects Supervisor and Jeffrey Kurland as costume designer.
Outside of the cast crew, no real information for the film has been released, however Robert Pattinson described the script for the film as “Unreal”. Pattinson also expressed strong interest in working with Nolan, describing him as, “the only director now who can do what is essentially a very personal, independent movie that has huge scale.”.
Tenet is set for release on July 17th 2020.
