The newest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, released on Monday, has become the second-biggest trailer launch of all time, trailing only the debut of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in March. In the 24 hours following its release, the Avengers: Doomsday trailer was viewed 503 million times, while the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer was viewed 719 million times in the 24 hours after its release.
While this doesn’t make for Marvel’s highest trailer launch, given that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a Sony production, it does mean that it is the biggest trailer launch for Disney. It is higher than the launch of the first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, which, including its Super Bowl airing, received 365 million views.
To coincide with the trailer release, select tickets were put on sale for Avengers: Doomsday for its opening weekend. All showings put on sale were for Premium Large Formats, including Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, and 4DX, all designated under the new “Infinity Vision” branding. On the first day of its release, the film generated $16.5 million in pre-sales, with showings for December 17th and 18th in many theater locations already being sold out.
Tickets are still available for those who do wish to see Avengers: Doomsday opening weekend. The film will be released in theaters on December 18th.
