Deadline revealed that there is a new action comedy titled “Shotgun Wedding” that is set to star the ever popular Ryan Reynolds and to be directed by Jason Moore.
The film will follow a couple holding an extremely extravagant wedding that is hijacked by a group of criminals. In the process of fighting the dangerous criminals in order to free their families, the couple rediscovers why they fell in love with each other in the first place.
Reynolds, who starred in the cultural phenomenon Deadpool, the hit comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard and the upcoming Detective Pikachu will no doubt be a constant comedy highlight. The director Jason Moore helmed projects like the comedies Pitch Perfect, Sisters and TV series The Trophy Wife. The writers for the film will be Mark Hammer (Two Night Stand, Skins) and Elizabeth Meriwether (Single Parents, New Girl, No Strings Attached).
Deadline was able to get a quote from Reynolds, who stated “I haven’t done a romantic comedy since The Proposal but I just fell in love with Shotgun Wedding. It’s so refreshing and surprising. I can’t wait to bring it to life with Jason, Todd, Dave and the great team at Lionsgate.”
The filmmakers are still on the search for the female lead to star against Reynolds. The movie is set to go into production this summer.
