Netflix Is Giving Adam Sandler’s ‘Murder Mystery’ A Sequel

Murder Mystery

This summer, Netflix released a comedic mystery movie simply titled Murder Mystery. The latest entry in Adam Sandler’s movie deal with Netflix, the movie was directed by Workaholics co-creator Kyle Newacheck and starred Sandler, former SNL cast member, alongside Friends actress Jennifer Anniston. While Murder Mystery received some mediocre reviews from film critics upon release, it was extremely financially successful and even had a record breaking release on Netflix. Now, because of the movie’s success, Netflix has decided to make a sequel.

In Murder Mystery, Sandler and Anniston played married couple Nick and Audrey Spitz. Nick is a NYC cop, and Audrey is a murder mystery writer, yet their marriage is on the rocks. So the two embark on a vacation to Europe, only to find themselves caught up in an actual whodunit mystery plot. Shenanigans ensue.

According to Screen Rant, the sequel is already in its early stages of development, and both Sandler and Anniston are expected to reprise their roles. Writer James Vanderbilt has been approached to write the script for Murder Mystery 2. Vanderbilt wrote the screenplay for the original Murder Mystery, but he is also known for writing the scripts for Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
