Nathan Fillion Is Becoming The DCU’s Most-Recurring Star

Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner in James Gunn's 'Superman' (2025)

Nathan Fillion is starting to become a familiar face in the new DC Universe. After appearing as Guy Gardner in Superman, the actor is set to show up across several more DC projects, making him the most-recurring actor in the franchise so far, according to Entertainment Weekly. Fillion first appeared as the loud and unpredictable Green Lantern Guy Gardner in James Gunn’s Superman. He later returned for a brief appearance in Peacemaker Season 2 and is currently appearing in HBO’s Lanterns, where Guy is once again part of the growing Green Lantern story.

His DCU run isn’t stopping there. Fillion is also filming Man of Tomorrow, the upcoming follow-up to Superman. On top of that, Entertainment Weekly recently reported that he will voice Guy Gardner in the upcoming animated series Mister Miracle. That gives Fillion appearances across five different DCU projects. The actor seems to be enjoying how often the character keeps coming back. Fillion said the fact that people continue finding ways to use Guy Gardner is “fantastic,” adding that he sees himself as a connecting thread throughout the new DC Universe.

It’s an interesting position for Fillion, especially since Guy Gardner is not always the easiest character to like. His personality can be loud, cocky and frustrating, but that also makes him stand out among the other Green Lanterns. Fillion has leaned into those traits, giving the character a different energy from the more traditional heroes around him. With Lanterns currently airing and Man of Tomorrow still on the way, fans are likely to see a lot more of Guy Gardner. Fillion’s growing presence also shows how James Gunn and Peter Safran are building connections between the different corners of the DCU.

For now, Fillion looks like he isn’t going anywhere. If the DCU keeps finding new places for Guy Gardner to appear, he could remain one of its most recognizable recurring characters.
