‘Mouse Guard’ Lead Will be Sonoya Mizuno From ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

British-Japanese model and actress, Sonoya Mizuno, known for her roles in Alex Garland’s films Ex Machina and Annihilation as well as portraying bride, Araminta Lee, in last year’s romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians, has been added to the cast of an upcoming project from 20th Century Fox.

The project titled Mouse Guard is an adaptation of the David Petersen written and illustrated comic book series of the same name. Petersen’s series, which started in 2006 and currently still runs, is set in a world of sentient mice where there are no humans. However, there are still many dangers present in the lives of these mice in the forms of animal predators. This brought reason for the creation of the “Mouse Guard”, a brotherhood of mice sworn to protect civilian mice from these dangers.

Mizuno will star as the lead character in the film adaptation, directed by Wes Ball, who is known for directing the Maze Runner trilogy. Alongside her will be Andy Serkis, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Idris Elba all acting with motion capture techniques. The film is still in the early stages of development and there is no indication yet what story will be told from the long-running comic series or if it will stray from the previous storylines. Robert Thornson Jr.: My name is Robert and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. I am pursuing a B.A. in Film and Media studies with hopes to work in the creative industry. I have always had a passion for storytelling and since youth I've loved film. I grew up loving the movies of directors like Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, and many more along with writers such as Aaron Sorkin and Quentin Tarantino. One thing I have always done is write about movies and communicate to others information about the "film community" and the industry as well as about the films themselves. I write creatively on a daily basis.
