The already star-studded roster for the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival has become even starrier, as organizers announce additions to this year’s lineup. Robert Redford (A Walk in the Woods), Sandra Bullock (Minions), and Susan Sarandon (Tammy) are just a few of the stars expected to grace the red carpet as their upcoming films hit the festival circuit.
The festival, world-renowned as a generator of awards-season buzz, has previously announced an ambitious slate of films, including the opening night world premiere of the drama Demolition starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts.
Organizers have slated the world premiere of director Pablo Cabezas’ Mr. Right as the closing night offering. The film, the story of a hopeless romantic who falls in love with a hitman, stars Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect 2), Sam Rockwell (Poltergeist), and Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction).
Other films making their world premieres are the Hank Williams’ biopic I Saw the Light starring Tom Hiddleston (Kong: Skull Island) and Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers: Age of Ultron), and Truth, the tale of the undoing of legendary news anchor Dan Rather, featuring Redford as the famed newsman and Cate Blanchett (Carol) as his producer.
Sarandon stars with Elle Fanning and Naomi Watts in About Ray, about a teenager’s decision to transition from female to male. Bullock stars as a political consultant in the George Clooney produced drama Our Brand Is Crisis.
The Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 10th through the 20th. Check out all the new additions here.
