In exactly two weeks, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit cinemas across the country and there will be pandemonium on the streets. That date can’t get here soon enough as more spoilers are spilling over. The latest one comes courtesy of Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford.
Before I continue, let me preface with a big spoiler alert. You’ve been warned.
Earlier today, Ford held a Q&A on Twitter answering questions about the upcoming film. And low and behold, he gave us brand new information I’m certain we weren’t supposed to know. By now, most of you out there know that Finn (John Boyega) is one with the Force, as he’s been seen wielding Luke’s blue lightsaver in the latest trailers. But one character who we haven’t seen donning the Jedi weapon of choice is Rey (Daisy Ridley). According to Ford, she will not only use a lightsaver, but use it to fight the new badass Kylo Ren.
“The sword fight with Rey and Kilo Ren. Fantastic visual storytelling,” tells Ford. Other than misspelling Kylo’s first name, that is big news. J.J. Abrams and company have gone to extreme lengths to keep the plot and other important details under wraps (where is Luke?). Granted, most of us have long suspected that she might be one with the Force. In fact, it’s a forgone conclusion – although not yet confirmed – that she is Han Solo and Princess Leia’s daughter. The idea that she might be a Jedi is not crazy at all either, given the crazy fan theories that have been floating around out there. Jar Jar Binks a Sith Lord? Come on, people.
Hopefully this is the last major spoiler that comes out before the big release on December 18. We actually want to be surprised when we watch the movie.
