‘Moonlight’s Naomie Harris to Join Dwayne Johnson in ‘Rampage’

It was announced on Wednesday that Naomie Harris will be playing a geneticist opposite Dwayne Johnson in Rampage. The film will be based on the popular video of the 1980s, where monstrous animals bring havoc upon different cities. The sci-fi action film will begin filming sometime this year. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story.

Although the plot details are begin kept secret, the film is likely to feature animals like gorillas, crocodiles, wolves, and dinosaurs, similar to the video game.

Harris, a British actress, has received much praise for her portrayal of the mother of the main character in this year’s Moonlight. For the role, she has received nominations from the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and BAFTAs. Harris has previously been featured in James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre as Eve Moneypenny, and as Tia Dalma in the second and third Pirates of the Caribbean films. She has been in film, television, and theatre productions since the age of 9.

Director Brad Peyton previously worked with Johnson on San Andreas and Journey 2, but this will be the first time he works with Harris. New Line Cinema will be producing the film.

Rampage is set to be released in the USA on April 20, 2018
